The 2009/10 season brings with it the new MIDLANDS CHALLENGE LEAGUE. In conjunction with the 5 other strongest clubs in the Midlands, UOBHC have decided to break away from the traditional Midlands Regional 2nd XI league to form a new  ‘super-league’. The league will be known as the MIDLANDS CHALLENGE. It will contain the 2nd teams of the 6 Midlands clubs whose 1st teams play in the Slazenger EHL. The aim of the Challenge is to provide hockey of the highest quality week in week out therefore increasing the chances for personal player and club development. It gives the clubs a chance to put youngsters and 1st XI fringe members in high pressure, high quality and hopefully high spirited games while they will also be free to play in the regular leagues. The old club 2nd team will now be referred to as the UOBHC Lions, while the 3rd and 4th teams now become and 2nd XI and 3rd XI and in turn step up to the higher leagues. UOBHC will therefore no longer have a presence in the Midlands Central League. UOBHC welcome the venture and wish to extend their thanks to Cannock, Beeston, Loughborough Students, Leek and Stourport Hockey Clubs in helping open a new chapter of Midland’s Hockey.
