On Saturday 19th the Ladies 1s had their first ever Premier Division match against Brooklands Poynton. After dominating the first haslf Brum found themselves 2-1 with 10 minutes to go and defending a short corner. Poynton duely converted to make it 2-2.

The crowd were now getting nervous and noisey on the sidelines, eager for a first ever Prem win. Eight minutes left and Susie Gilbert, fresh from her bronze medal winning performance with England at the Euro Championships, picks the ball up in the Brum half. After skilling half the Poynton team she slips the ball to fan favourite Sophie Bray at the top left of the Poynton circle. Drawing on her vast international experience over the summer Bray cooly takes the ball on her reverse and smashes it straight through the keepers legs. Game, set, match to Brum. The girls travel away to Reading next week for what may be their toughest test of the season.

Following the girls success the boys were not keen on being shown up on Sunday away at Old Georgians. After being turned over twice by the Guildford based club last season the boys were out to prove a point. They did just that with 6 different boy scoring one each and England Keeper Andrew Gooderham doing the rest in a convincing 6-1 victory. The boys now kick off their home campaign on Saturday 26th against Plymouth.
