Birmingham started their first BUCS game with excitement but the stakes to beat their arch rivals were high. After a scrappy start, Birmingham regained their composure which resulted in a quick break and a great deflection goal from Dawson. Loughborough fought back hard but were not able to penetrate the strong Brum defence. Strong and consistent presses along with good transfers around the back meant Birmingham retained possession. This led to a good build up of play resulting in the second goal from Stan. Unfortunately Loughborough scored late in the second half which caused tensions to rise. After a few close misses from Loughborough in the last ten minutes, Brum managed to close a 2-1 victory.
